I feel this is a stupid question but, I'm building 2 overflows for my 125 gal tank, I spray painted the back out side of the tank and I was wondering if I could do the same with the over flows? I feel this is a dumb question because even if I use water resent paint it will eventually break away and make its way to the fish. Not to mention the chemicals. But what if I spray one pice of plexiglass and then silicone another pice to the back of it so the paint never gets hit by the water? Or what about window tint? Or should I fine a place that can make me custom overflows? If that is the answer do you know of a place that will make them? Sorry I know that was a lot but it is one of the last things I need to do to put water in my new reef tank.

Thanks,
Greg

Hey Greg,

Are you making the overflow's out of glass or acylic?  If you can make it out of acrylic you should be able to get colored acylic (black or blue) so you won't have to worry about paint in the tank.

Otherwise I think using the paint internally will eventually cause issues.  Maybe not with it being toxic, but with it flaking and chipping.

HTH,
