| I have a recently added 6 Water Hyacinths to my pond and noticed that the individual plants have now joined and have become two clusters. Is this normal? Should I try to seperate them? Thanks.

| Thanks! Most of my internet searches have only identified the hyacinth as an invasive species and detailed how to get rid of it.

Water Hyacinth in Utah is an annual that costs about 4 bucks a plant. Those of us that can grow it have great success and it spreads out like crazy. In most ponds here, however, it doesn't do well at all.

They are know to grow very quickly and most of us just let them grow into large groups. If they are getting into the skimmer or taking over you can anchor them with fishing line to a rock or something. Just loosely loop the fishing line around the plant stem. Use a short line so it doesn't get in the way of anything.
