There is no special lighting requirement for live rock. You can get that N.O. (no output) strip flourescent with no ill effects.
Granted T-5's will LOOK better, but they will also cost a mint for you.

Rock is live because of the bacteria that i has on it's surface. If your lucky, you get beneficial hitchhikers such as bristles and pods. Nothing about LR need light. I've changed most of my tanks over to it and I'm very pleased. It isn't to pricey, low electrical consumption, minimal heat production, and does well for fish, live rock, and many corals. For a tank the size of yours you should be able to get a good fixture for a reasonable price. Again welcome hope you enjoy yourself on the forum.

lighting question

I need some advice on what kind of lighting do u have to have for live rock to grow,or to grow without dying on me,have a 20 gallon sw for right now with 2 clowns, but no coral, just want to have enough just for live rock,no corals, thanks, please help
