What other fish are there? Some anthias, IME, will turn male at the drop of a hat (bartlett, dispar, ignitus). Lyretails tend to be less likely to do so, especially that many. Meaning about how many, I assume more than the average 5 or 6?
In nature, anthia shoals do have both male and female subordinates. The males stay low on the totem pole so to speak.

The leader male is supposed to keep the females from changing, but if he is not doing his job, then he either may not be a leader male or something is wrong with him and another is ready to step up.
How long has he had them and how many does he have?

RE: Male lyretail anthias change back to female?

c'mon, 4 days and no reply from anyone? They aren't picking on each other, but I am wondering if any of these males can change back to female, or if this will simply stall their transformation to male and they will continue to have this drab "in between" coloration.
