| Wow...very cool. Can you tell us a little more about the tank (size, what is in there, chiller, temperature, fish, etc...)? Would love to see a full tank shot also

Yep, I'll second that. Really "cool" tank (pun intended!). I have always thought about doing a cold water Long Island Sound tank but am afraid that the energy cost would be prohibitive as the tank water would need to be kept in the 50 to 60 degree F range. What type of cold water anemones are in the tank? What do you feed the tank? I'm with Keith & would really like to know more details about the set up, etc..... Steve

I'll give that a third. I checked your profile but other than the time difference I couldn't tell where your located. I agree with Keith and Steve, some more pics and info on your tank would be great. A temperate tank can be both fun and educational. Looking foward to more posts.

| you wont belive this but its only a 15 lt tank ,no chiller, no artficial light most of the time just natural light one hour direct the rest ambiant. filter 20 dollar plastic bio. temp wise it can be in a range of 7c to 25c average in my tank is about 19 to 22c. in summer i throw a few freezer bricks in to keep it cool(cheap chiller) Fish australian Drummer ,other animals carniorous snails and vegi snails ,spinny urchin,beach worms,crabs. only one fish to keep the balance in the tank any more would be to many. ill get back to you on the pics Ken bermagui nsw australia(south eastern coast line of nsw)

| Hi Ken: So, your tank temp varies from approx. 67 to 72 degrees F. Are those cold water anemones? What species are they? Are they Aposymbiotic or Symbiotic? If they don't harbor Zoox, then how often & what do you feed them? How did you aquire all of the animals? It doesn't sound like there is enough light getting to the tank in general. Do you use a skimmer on this tank? What about water flow? What are "freezer bricks"? Do you let them melt in the tank as a means of replenishing fresh water that has evaporated? Do you do water changes on this tank? How often/how much? Sorry for asking all of these questions but I am really curious about this tank. Steve

They are Actinia tenebrosa. They are an intertidal spicies found in crevices and under over hangs of rock. cold water species 7 to 20c the books say.Food fresh loaclly caught flathead prawns. I was given two sand and two waratahs all the rest are natural clones.They dont like lots of light,increased light just upsets them.Flow levels dont need to be that high, some animals will hang in flow others will move to the other end of the tank where there is less. Freezer bricks are a plastic container that is filled with water sealed then placed in fridge until frozen then when tank temp climbs just place in tank. too simple and cheaper then a chiller.if the tank water level needs topping up ill often use ice cubes.full Water changes are about every 8 to 12 weeks. i live near perfect ocean water bermagui is the closest point on the east coast to the edge continental shelf 15 miles off shore.My top up water is natural river water no chemicals
