| I just set up my standard 55 gal aquarium aprox 4 weeks ago. in which i have 2 clarki clowns and have just added a long nose butterfly. my problem is with the butterfly. we have had him for 3 days now and in this time he has not eaten anything. we have used both the standard marine food that we give the clowns and flakes. is it normal for a fish to take a while to develope an apetite while adapting? im using live sand and only about 5 lbs of live rock(both straight from the ocean) but with my canister filter and skimmer my water is kept suprisingly clean. no ammonia or nitrite. 10-15ppm mitrate 1.023 salinity ph is slightly low at 8.0. he is fairly active swimming around but i figure if he doesnt eat he'll probably die right?

You might have better luck with more natural style meaty foods instead of pellets and flake. Things like frozen (and then dethawed of course) mysid shrimp, Pacifica plankton, bloodworms, daphnia, squid, mussels, clams, etc.

| I agree with Steven...you need to try a more "meaty" diet for the butterfly fish. Another good food to get their appitite going is cyclopeeze (Liquid Life Marine Plankton is a great one to try). HTH,
