I have a 29g reef and my pearl bubble is wasting away for the past few weeks. I have had him for about 8 months and until a couple weeks ago he was looking incredible healthy. I have been feeding him silversides but now he doesnt seem to want to take anything in. My water parameters are as follows

Salinity 1.025

PH 8.1

Phos 0

amm 0

nitrite 0

nitrate  less than 10

calcium 480

DKH 8

Any help in this matter would be great. Thanks alot!

Ryan

I would try smaller foods like Pacifica plankton and mysid shrimp.

In addition to what Steven mentioned (smaller foods), how is the flow around the coral?  They generally don't like to much of a flow, just a gentle flow.

I have had similar experiences with bubble corals (2 in the past), they do great for around 6 months and then all of a sudden stop opening (inflating) as much and then they go down hill.  I just figured I was not giving it the appropriate food, supplement, light, etc... (i.e. something was missing from the tank for their long term health).

I wonder what others long term success has been with bubble type corals?

It is in the lowest water flow I have in my tank(Which is next to nothing). It also eats mysis shrimp everyday because that is what I feed my fish. So really I have no idea whats going on.

I've had a green bubble coral for nearly a year and it definitely doesn't dig a lot of flow; as for diet, we change things up pretty frequently but generally we mix a concoction that feeds all of our fish, corals and inverts. There have been a few instances when it didn't look too well but mostly it's been stable as long as we didn't hit it with much direct flow.
