| Hi 1mbrews8, Welcome to the Marine Depot Forums . You mention fowlr, but also mention corals. Fowlr stands for Fish Only With Live Rock (meaning no corals), as soon as you add a coral you have a reef tank. The reason I want to clarify this is if you tell someone you have a FOWLR tank they may recommend fish that will eat corals. So it sounds like you want to set up a reef tank with reef safe fish. I would look at T5's as you can get more "bang for the buck" in terms of the amount of light. While the wattage will be less than with VHO the actual PAR (intensity) will be greater. There are a bunch of T5 retrokits available (CurrentUSA, IceCap, Sunlight Supply, etc...) that will all work well. HTH,

| How tall is your canopy? If its not a tall one then you would be better off with T5s.If you it is a tall canopy then I would go with halides.
