Does anybody know anything about a DIY skimmer? I'd love to save myself some money and build one myself.

Hi Matt,

Are you looking for a skimming box for your pond or are you looking for a protein skimmer (air bubbles) for your pond?

sorry I should have been more specific, I meant skimmer box. Can you use a protein skimmer on a pond? I was hoping to maybe build a skimmer box out of some kind of plastic tub or the like.

They do make protein skimmers for ponds, but they are quite large and don't work as well as skimmers on saltwater tanks.

I tried doing a google search for DIY skimmer boxes and mostly everything was coming up with overflow boxes for fish tanks despite putting "pond" in the search field.

I would think there has to be someone who has done this, but maybe they have not shared it on the web.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
