Inside dimensions on my Hood are 48" x 20", currently have four 96 watt lamps, want to add two more 96 watts. How close can I space them? My reflector is one big piece. Also has anyone used the M.D. DIY Square pin Sockets? Have you had any problems with them? Cooling fans are no problem as I have a stack of them from computer racks.
90Overflow, wet dry, home made skimmer; self cleaning, w/800 rio. Two return pumps, one off at night. 384W PC. Reverse flow under/over gravel filter. Fish, LR, some corals. Aquarium has over head matching cabinet.

| PC bulbs can be fairly close to each other without any issue, I would say probably 1/2" should be fine. I have not used the sockets, but they are fairly standard sockets so assuming they are installed properly there should be no issues. Have you considered adding T5's instead of more PC's? You will have a lower wattage (less heat produced and less on your electric bill) while putting out a higher PAR. CurrentUSA makes some nice retrofit kits that are fairly inexpensive that come with bulbs. HTH,
