cheers, all

Welcome to the photography subforum. Aside from the simple requests that I have for my main forum - this site (and all sites at large) - for common courtesy and civil, if not friendly, behavior... this subforum bears a few special reminders:

- please make a concerted effort to keep tidy posting habits to help yourself and others in the future with archiving data (searches). Specifically... be, er... specific:

1) when you start a thread, please give it a specific title that tells what the thread is about (or tag it "general" as with "my tank" style threads). Examples: "Choosing camera brands" "Shopping for an SLR macro lens" "X species [insert coral or invertebrate name]" "favorite macro images"

2) when posting... please stay on topic. Start a new thread please when you want to post off-topic. Again, this is for you and our fellow hobbyists that might never find the great post(s) to the off topic question you got answered in a thread by an unrelated name.

3) Commercial activity of any kind will not be tolerated here!!! It is perhaps my one regret in starting this forum that some of my least favorite types of aquarists (a rare breed)tend to hawk in the photog forums; they are some of the lowest, with no care in education or helping fellow aquarists or building archives. They just come in and post "innocuous" threads like "hey, look at my frags" or "show me your zoos/acans, etc" and then use the posts of interested members to scavenge for buyers of their frags or to harass others to sell pieces of their corals. Many of these folks are preceded by name (some poachers too for that matter... familiar from message boards and fed inquiries) and any/all can be ferreted out by a noticed increased PM/em activity use from this forum. Few things will raise my ire more than these dregs (especially the stony coral poachers). I will be vigilant and make a concerted effort to screen for these leeches from networked fellowship with the owners of many other boards/admins on other sites, poacher watchlists, etc. This subform is about photography education... not a happy hour for business networking. Take it elsewhere please if you seek the latter. I'm asking all MD forum members to please contact me or an admin if you are solicited (PM, em, messenger pigeon... whatever) to buy or sell frags of the livestock in your pics. Please save the offending text message. Violators of the UA and this rule are reminded that they are guests by privilege of a privately owned website/community. At best... you'll get a single warning from me for breaking this rule. Or not. I'm stone cold serious about screening out the riff raff here.

4) Don't be shy to ask questions or post pictures you feel need help. That is, in fact, a principal purpose of this forum... to improve your aquarium photography. It is not just about posting and viewing great photography

5) if you simply want to show off and discuss your tank (husbandry of livestock), but not discuss the photography aspects of it, please post in the dedicated forum for members tanks: http://forum.marinedepot.com/Forum25-1.aspx
